Semi-improved grassland is land which has been modified to some extent by agricultural processes, notably the addition of artificial fertiliser and possibly excessive grazing.

This land has lower biodiversity than natural, unaltered grassland (unimproved) but higher diversity than so-called improved grassland which has experienced even higher addition of nutrients from fertilisers. It can therefore be classified as moderately species rich and can occur on a range of heathland soil types. It spans the S6 site at Waldridge.
